Brush like you mean it.

Two minutes, twice a day, done right. Here's the full technique — angle, motion, and the spots everyone forgets.

The routine

Six steps, start to finish

1

Load up

Soft-bristled brush, a pea-size dab of fluoride toothpaste on the bristles. (Rice-grain for under-3s.)

2
45°

Angle it 45°

Tilt the bristles halfway between the tooth and the gum, so they sweep the gumline where plaque hides.

3

Small circles

Gentle, tooth-sized circles — never a hard side-to-side saw. Let the bristles do the work.

4

Work all four quadrants

Outer, inner, and chewing surfaces of each quadrant — about 30 seconds apiece.

5

Don't skip the tongue

A few light strokes from back to front clears bacteria and freshens breath.

6

Spit, don't rinse

Spit out the excess but skip the water — leaving a little fluoride behind protects longer.

30 seconds per quadrant

Most people bail at 45 seconds. Hit start, follow the highlight, and give every corner its fair share.

Do this, skip that

Do

  • Brush morning and night — night matters most.
  • Wait ~30 min after acidic food or drink before brushing.
  • Swap your brush (or head) every 3–4 months, sooner if frayed.
  • Store it upright and let it air-dry.
